Getting started with Wapes
Install the extension, open it in WhatsApp Web and find your way around. No email or password needed to start.
Wapes is a Chrome extension that lives inside WhatsApp Web. It isn’t a separate app or a service that connects to your account: it opens as a panel next to your chats and works from your own WhatsApp session.
This guide covers your first five minutes.
1. Install the extension
- Open the Wapes page on the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome.
- Open web.whatsapp.com and scan the QR code with your phone, as usual.
Don’t see Wapes? Reload the WhatsApp Web tab (Ctrl+R, or ⌘R on Mac). The extension loads with the page: if you installed it with WhatsApp already open, reload once.
2. Start using it
The first time, the Wapes panel opens by itself in trial mode. You don’t need to create an account with an email or password: Wapes recognizes the number of the WhatsApp Web session you have open.
- If that number already has a Wapes account, you go straight into it.
- If it’s your first time, you can start right away and, whenever you want, tap Save my account to keep it. It’s confirmed with your open WhatsApp session — no codes.
- If you signed up earlier with an email and password, use Sign in.
We only ask for an email when you buy a plan, to send you the receipt.
3. Know the panel
The Home screen has the main tools:
- Bulk send: the wizard to send one message to many contacts, personalized with each person’s name.
- Verify numbers: checks which numbers on a list are on WhatsApp, without messaging them.
- Export contacts: downloads the members of your groups or your chats to Excel, CSV or vCard.
- Quick replies: your library of saved messages.
- Settings.
The icon bar on the side also has:
- Day summary: how many messages you sent, how many were delivered and read, who replied, the chats left unanswered and your activity this week.
- Privacy: blurs your chats (see below).
- Support: messages us on WhatsApp. People reply, not a bot.
4. What Wapes adds inside WhatsApp
- In the chat list: hover a chat to get shortcuts to mark it unread and to archive it.
- On every message: a button to copy the text.
- Next to the compose box: the AI button. If the box is empty, it suggests a reply based on the conversation; if you already typed something, it improves it.
- Export a chat: inside a conversation you can export it in full as HTML or CSV.
5. Two things worth knowing on day one
Your contacts stay in your browser. The lists you load and the files you export are processed in your Chrome. Messages go out from your own WhatsApp session.
Privacy mode is free. Press Alt+B (⌥B on Mac) or the Privacy icon to blur your chats; hovering reveals the content again. Handy for screen sharing or working in public. In Settings you can make it blur automatically when you leave WhatsApp.
