Wapes ("the Extension") is a Chrome extension that helps you send bulk WhatsApp messages, verify numbers, export contacts, and use AI features. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.

1. Data we collect

Account data (for authentication)

• Email — to create your account, log in, and verify your email.
• Name — for personalization and account identification.
• Password — never stored in plain text; kept using industry-standard hashing.
• Phone number (optional) — if you provide it for support.

AI features (process conversation content)

When you use an AI feature — Chat Summary, Suggest reply, or Rewrite — the Extension sends to our backend (https://api.wapes.lat) the content of the messages in the selected chat and the names of the participants, solely to generate the result you requested. That content may be transmitted to AI model providers to produce the response. It is processed to fulfill your request and is not used for other purposes or to train models. These features run only when you use them.

Usage data

• Anonymous install identifier, version, and install date.
• Usage counters — number of messages sent / numbers verified (only the count, to manage limits and statistics). The content of those sends and phone numbers are not transmitted.
• Analytics (Amplitude): user identifier, version, language, IP and user-agent, and feature-usage events. No phone numbers or chat content.

2. What we do NOT collect

• ❌ The content of the messages you send in bulk (only the count is recorded).
• ❌ Your contact lists or the CSV/Excel files you import — they are processed locally in your browser.
• ❌ Your WhatsApp account credentials or session.
• ❌ Your browsing history outside WhatsApp Web.
• ❌ Payment information (the Extension does not process payments).

3. How we use your data

• Authentication and account verification.
• AI features: generate summaries, suggestions, and rewrites on demand.
• Limit management and aggregated usage statistics.
• Support and important account notifications.

4. Who we share data with

• Our backend (api.wapes.lat) — our own infrastructure.
• AI providers — to process the content of AI features when you use them.
• Amplitude — product analytics (no phone numbers or chat content).

We do not sell your data to third parties.

5. Security and retention

Session tokens are stored locally in your browser and never exposed to the WhatsApp page. Passwords are stored hashed. We keep account data for as long as your account exists; usage data is retained in aggregate for statistics.

6. Your rights

You can request access to or deletion of your data by writing to hi@wapes.lat. Deleting your account removes your associated data.
