WAPES ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Chrome extension handles your information when you use our WhatsApp productivity and contact management tool.

2. Information We Collect

WAPES collects minimal anonymous data for feature management and technical support. This data is sent securely to our backend (https://api.wapes.lat):

  • Extension UUID: A randomly generated unique identifier (NOT linked to your identity)
  • Extension Version: Current version number for update control
  • Installation Date: When the extension was first installed
  • Message Count: Total messages sent (for daily limit management)
  • Timezone & Locale: For proper date/time formatting

IMPORTANT: This data is completely anonymous and does not include personally identifiable information.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

WAPES is designed to protect your privacy. We want to be clear about what we do NOT collect:

  • Your name, email, or any personally identifiable information
  • Your phone number or WhatsApp account details
  • Message content or recipient information
  • Contact lists or CSV/Excel file contents
  • Browsing history or activity outside WhatsApp Web

4. How We Use Your Data

We use the collected anonymous data for:

  • Feature Flags: Enable/disable features remotely for quality control
  • Limit Management: Track daily sending limits (900 messages/day)
  • Usage Analytics: Understand extension adoption and usage patterns
  • Version Control: Identify which users need updates
  • Technical Support: Help troubleshoot technical issues

5. How WAPES Works

WAPES operates primarily within your browser:

  • Local Processing: All message sending is performed directly in your browser using WhatsApp Web's interface
  • Anonymous Backend: Only anonymous data (UUID, counters) is sent to backend for feature management
  • Local Storage: Message templates and preferences are stored locally in your browser using localStorage
  • File Processing: Excel/CSV files are processed entirely in your browser and never uploaded to the backend

6. Data Stored Locally

The following data may be stored locally in your browser (localStorage):

  • Message templates you create
  • Your delay preferences
  • UI preferences

This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser data or uninstalling the extension.

7. Data Storage and Security

We take the security of your data seriously:

  • Secure Backend: Data hosted on a private Contabo VPS server (contabo.com) with HTTPS/TLS encryption
  • Data Retention: Anonymous data is retained indefinitely for service continuity
  • No Data Sale: We never sell, rent, or share data with third parties
  • Data Deletion: You can request deletion of your UUID by contacting us

8. Third-Party Services

WAPES interacts with the following third-party services. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies independently:

  • WhatsApp Web: Messaging interface. Your use is subject to WhatsApp Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
  • Paddle (paddle.com): Payment gateway and Merchant of Record. Paddle processes your payment data (name, email, card) under their own Privacy Policy. WAPES does not store or access your payment information.
  • Contabo VPS (contabo.com): Private VPS backend infrastructure to store anonymous UUIDs and usage counters.

9. Permissions

WAPES requires the following browser permissions:

  • Access to web.whatsapp.com: Required to inject the messaging interface into WhatsApp Web
  • Storage: Required to save your message templates and UUID locally
  • Backend Access (Contabo VPS): Required for authentication, feature flags, and usage counters

10. Children's Privacy

WAPES is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.

13. Your Rights & Data Ownership

You own your data. To the extent applicable law requires (GDPR, CCPA), you have the right to:

  • Access the anonymous data associated with your UUID.
  • Request complete deletion of your UUID and associated data from our backend.
  • Object to the processing of your data by emailing wapes.crm@gmail.com.
  • Portability: request a copy of the data we hold associated with your UUID.
